Malta National Team rises one place in FIFA World Rankings

The Malta Men’s National Team has climbed up one place in the FIFA World Rankings after an update to the rankings on Thursday 10th July 2025.

The Men’s National Team has gone up to 168th in the rankings following the June international window where Malta recorded a goalless draw against Lithuania and suffered a defeat against European giants the Netherlands.

According to the rankings, Malta is 51st in Europe, ahead of Andorra (174th overall), Gibraltar (199th overall), Liechtenstein (204th overall) and San Marino (210th overall).

The National Team is not far away from Moldova (154th overall), and thus the September international window represents an opportunity for Malta to continue climbing the rankings.

Up next for Malta is an away match in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, travelling to Lithuania for an encounter on 4th September 2025 at 20:45hrs. That window will also include a match against opponents that are yet to be determined.
