The Malta U19 National Team fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Belarus in the first of two international friendly matches, which proved to be a very tight clash between the two sides.
Malta started strong, and they got their reward in the 25th minute, as Valletta FC's Thomas Melillo fired the ball into the back of the net from a great position.

The match continued with most of the play being pretty much in midfield, with no other real goal-mouth opportunity being registered during the first half.
Belarus made a strong reaction and they were awarded with an equaliser after the break, with Artsom Akatou producing a fine header from under the post in the 50th minute.
They continued to dictate matters and on the 61st minute Belarus went ahead when after receiving the ball from a through pass, Daniel Volski scored with a great header.
The away side remained a threat, despite Malta pushing for an equaliser. Belarus got their third goal to seal the match in the 81st minute, as substitute Stanislau Kazmerchuk scored with a cool finish.
Belarus continued to administer their lead and came away with the win.
The two sides will meet again on Monday 13th October 2025, with kick-off at 18:00hrs, as Malta look to bounce back and get a positive result.
