2026/27 UEFA WU17 and WU19 Championships Qualifying Draws held

On Thursday, the draws for the first rounds of the UEFA Women’s Under-17 and Under-19 Championships were held, with Malta discovering its path in the two competitions.

The draws took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland, and were made by David Gough, UEFA Head of Women's Football Competitions, and David Balmer, UEFA Women's National Team Competitions Manager.

2026/27 UEFA EURO WOMEN’S UNDER-17 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1

The first draw was for the first qualifying round of the 2026/27 UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship.

The competition will see 50 teams take part, being split into League A (28 teams) and League B (22 teams), with these leagues being split into groups to play in one-venue mini-tournaments. The six group winners and the best runner-up from the groups will be promoted to League A for the second round.

Malta, placed in Pot 2 of League B, were drawn in Group B6, together with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The hosts of the mini-tournaments will be announced at a later date. The matches must be played by 5th December.

2026/27 UEFA EURO WOMEN’S UNDER-19 CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 1

This was followed by the draw for the second qualifying round of the 2026/27 UEFA European Women’s Under-19 Championship.

52 teams will participate in the competition, with 28 of these teams being in League A, while the remaining 24 in League B. Malta was placed in Pot 3 of League B. The six group winners, together with the best runner-up, will be promoted to League A for the second round.

Malta was drawn in Group B6 of League B, together with Romania, Czechia and Kazakhstan.

The matches must be played during the windows of the FIFA Women’s International Match Calendar, unless all teams in a group agree to play on other dates. The windows are: 5th to 13th October 2026 or 24th to 5th December 2026.
