The Malta Football Association's Football Social Responsibility (FSR) Department recently collaborated with the UEFA Foundation to participate in a pre-match activity ahead of a UEFA Women's EURO 2025 match.
The event, held on Friday 11th July 2025, saw a group of children follow the Italy and Spain teams ahead of their Group Stage clash at the Wankdorf Stadium in Switzerland from the Centenary Hall in Ta' Qali (Malta) through a telepresence robot.

A telepresence robot is a remote-controlled robot, equipped with an on-board camera, a video screen, a microphone and speakers, that allows a user to remotely manoeuvre it to experience a particular location and interact with people which are on site.
The robot, made by French robotics company awabot and provided by UEFA, provided the children with the opportunity to visit the stadium, the teams' dressing rooms, and speak to individuals at the venue during a two-hour event held prior to the match. The children operated the robot and interacted with players and staff live.

Participants included children from FSR Malta's UEFA Foundation project named Being There, in collaboration with Richmond Foundation. Additionally, there were also 13 children from the hubs, as well as youths from the Special Olympics.
The children enjoyed the unique and unforgettable experience, allowing them to get an in-depth glimpse into a high-profile encounter.
