On Sunday, children from 15 local football nurseries had the incredible opportunity to play at the National Stadium as they took part in an Under-10 Football Festival hosted by the Malta Football Association and the Youth Football Association.
The event, forming part of the Malta FA’s 125th anniversary celebrations, saw teams take to the pitch for 20-minute matches.

It was the first time in many years that children had the chance to play on the National Stadium’s pitch, just a day after it was used for a national team match.
During the matches, a water buggy was provided by the Water Services Corporation to keep the children hydrated in the blistering June sun.

All participating nurseries were presented with medals from Malta FA Senior Vice President Dr Matthew Paris and Youth FA General Secretary Stephanie Rocco, as a commemorative token for taking part.
Following the matches, the children, coaches and parents had the opportunity to tour the Malta Museum of Football to get greater insight about the rich history of football in Malta.
The Malta FA and the Youth FA would like to thank the WSC and the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness for their assistance in holding the event.
The participating nurseries were: Mdina Knights FC, Melita FC, Mgarr United FC, Luqa St Andrews FC, Gozo FC, Rabat Ajax FC, San Gwann FC, Zabbar St Patrick FC, Hibernians FC, Mosta FC, Gharghur FC, Mqabba FC, Sirens FC, Hamrun Spartans FC and Zurrieq FC.
