The Malta National ‘A’ Team is set to take on Azerbaijan in an international friendly match in June, as preparations continue for the forthcoming UEFA Nations League campaign.
The match is scheduled for Friday 5th June 2026 and will be played at the Haladás Sportkomplexum in Szombathely, Hungary, with kick-off at 20:00hrs CET.
This fixture follows the previously announced international friendly against Slovakia on 1st June, with both matches forming part of an intensive training camp for Head Coach Emilio De Leo and his squad ahead of their competitive commitments later this year.
The two fixtures will provide valuable preparation for Malta ahead of the UEFA Nations League, where they will compete in League D Group 1 alongside Gibraltar and Andorra.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan will contest League D Group 2, where they are set to face Lithuania and Liechtenstein following their relegation from League C in the previous edition of the competition.
The encounter against Azerbaijan is expected to provide another important test for De Leo’s side, offering the coaching staff a valuable opportunity to assess the squad, fine-tune tactical preparations, and to build momentum ahead of Malta’s UEFA Nations League campaign.
