A landmark score-line against Lithuania for the U19 Malta Futsal side

A landmark result for the recently formed Malta Under19 Futsal Team in their first-ever international official participation.

The team is currently in Lithuania participating in Group A of the UEFA European Championship Qualifiers in a group also comprising England and Estonia, bar the host nation Lithuania.

The opening match for the boys on Wednesday was always going to be tough, pressure and lack of experience, and perhaps also personality at the international stage, were always going to take their toll, as a matter of fact, the boys lost 6-0 to a very strong England side in their maiden encounter.

The result nonetheless did not dishearten the boys, who rolled up their sleeves the following day and the unexpected materialized.

A landmark 2-2 draw against host nation Lithuania for Malta, also propelled with powerful and direct talk in pre-match by the experience of Malta Futsal U19 Team coach Carlo Scicluna.

Also leading the team, heading the delegation in Lithuania in this first-ever Futsal U19 journey on unfamiliar territories, are Malta FA Vice President Dr. Matthew Paris, Head of Futsal within the Association Mark Marlow, and Futsal National Team Coach Zeljko Anicic.

The result on Thursday night thanks to goals for Malta netted by Mason Agius and Ivin Gatt will surely stir the boys with the right frame of mind and inspire them to replicate their strong performance on Thursday night in a doable fixture on Saturday, rounding off proceedings in Lithuania with the final match against Estonia.
