Top prize for Luke Montebello and Stephania Farrugia during MFA Awards 2024

Ħamrun Spartans forward Luke Montebello and Birkirkara’s Stephania Farrugia won the Footballer of the Year and Female Player of the Year respectively in the Malta FA Awards 2024 which were held on Saturday 25th May.

Foreign Player of the Year award has been won by Marsaxlokk Brazilian playmaker Yuri de Jesus Messias, with World Cup winner Italy Mauro German Camoranesi beating Luciano Zauri and Paul Zammit for the Coach of the Year award.
A significant interest was generated this year with the Best Goal Award, with over 2000 voters submitting their preferences with so many fabulous goals to select from.
Finally, this award was won by rookie Birkirkara midfielder Kaiden Fenech for his thunderbolt in the top corner from 30 yards out on the final match day earning a 2-2 draw for the Stripes against Santa Lucia.
A positive season also for youngster Matthew Debattista both with the Malta U21 Team and assisting his side Melita to be crowned BOV Challenge League Champions.
Debattista was rewarded with BOV Challenge League Best Player, whereas Kurt Borg with his contribution to Mtarfa’s rise and promotion to the Challenge League, has earned him the IZIBET Amateur League Best Player.
Also, an impeccable season for youngster Owen Spiteri of Floriana, winning the BOV Young Player of the Year through his contribution to Both his club Floriana, also a valuable asset for the Malta U21 Team.

Mosta’s Ensell Attard and Swieqi United’s Kaysia Micallef won the Best Youth League Player and Assikura Female Youth League Best Player respectively.
Sirens won the Fair Play Award.
The President’s Award was presented to former National Team and Hibernians player Miguel Mifsud, and the Gozitan Achievement Award was won by Ann Marie Said, with Fgura United and its hard-working and inspiring officials propelling them to be rewarded with The Football Social Responsibility Award.
Club President Larkin Bonnici was in attendance and was presented with the Trophy on stage, representing his club.

Former Malta international player Joe Cini was admitted to the Hall of Fame.
The event was presented by media personality Sarah Bajada.
