Sustainability and the synergy with MPL were discussed as the Malta FA President meets Premier League club representatives.
The club's corporate restructuring, the commercialization of sports facilities, and the synergy between the Malta FA and the Malta Premier League (MPL) were the main subjects of the agenda during the meeting held yesterday (Wednesday), between Bjorn Vassallo, the Association’s President, MPL officials and officials of the clubs competing in this season’s top-tier championship.

Given the strong emphasis on the long-term financial sustainability of football clubs, the ongoing corporate restructuring, which is part of the extensive governance reforms being undertaken by the Malta FA since 2020, takes on added significance for Premier League clubs.
The completion of the corporate restructuring process, which will establish the regulatory framework for professional clubs to transition from their current form to entities that pursue commercial enterprise and new revenue streams, also represents one of the main short-term objectives for the Association.
Mr Vassallo gave a detailed explanation of the past and future milestones during yesterday's meeting.

Constructive feedback and suggestions on how to address pressing issues for top-flight clubs characterized the discussion which focused on other important topics such as the importance of finalizing more applications for projects related to the commercialization of facilities and the synergy between the Malta FA and the Malta Premier League.
Mr. Vassallo reaffirmed the Malta FA’s commitment towards the delivery of the set goals and initiatives as part of the joint venture with the MPL, starting with the setting up of a new company that will be responsible for the organization of the Premier League from season 2024-25.

The Malta FA President is holding meetings with representatives of all affiliated members and key stakeholders in the build-up to the Association’s next General Assembly, scheduled to take place on 15th March.
The General Assembly, the first for this year, will mark the start of a new four-year mandate for the Malta FA Administration.
