Referee Philip Farrugia appointed for UEFA Champions League Qualifier

Maltese official Philip Farrugia was recently selected to take charge of a UEFA Champions League First Qualifying Round encounter.

FIFA Referee Philip Farrugia officiated the second leg UEFA Champions League First Qualifying Round match between KF Egnatia (ALB) and FC Petrocub (MDA). He was assisted by FIFA Assistant Referees Jurgen Spiteri and Mark Ciantar, with Elite Referee Glen Tonna serving as Fourth Official.

VAR was also in use for this match, with Michael Fabbri (ITA) serving as Video Assistant Referee and Federico La Penna (ITA) as Assistant Video Assistant Referee.

The match took place on Wednesday 15th July 2026 at the Egnatia Arena in Rrogozhinë, Albania, with the final scoreline being 6-1 to the home side and 7-2 on aggregate.
