Maltese officials appointed for UEFA Champions League and UEFA Conference League Qualifiers

Maltese officials have been selected to officiate qualifying matches from the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Conference League, due to take place over the week.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

FIFA Referee Matthew De Gabriele has been selected to officiate the UEFA Champions League Second Qualifying Round match between Mjällby AIF (SWE) and Lincoln Red Imps FC (GIB).

He will be assisted by FIFA Assistant Referees Mitchell Scerri and David Castillo, with Daniel Casha serving as Fourth Official.

VAR will be in use during the match, with Gianluca Aureliano (ITA) and Daniele Paterna (ITA) serving as Video Assistant Referee and Assistant Video Assistant Referee, respectively.

The match will take place on Tuesday 21st July 2026 at Strandvallen in Sölvesborg, Sweden, with kick-off at 18:00hrs.

UEFA CONFERENCE LEAGUE

Elsewhere, FIFA Referee Philip Farrugia has also been selected to take charge of a match, He will be officiating the UEFA Conference League Second Qualifying Round encounter between FC Vardar (MKD) and Riga FC (LVA).

He will be assisted by FIFA Assistant Referees Mark Ciantar and Kurt Owen Saliba, with Daniel Portelli serving as Fourth Official.

The match will be held on Wednesday 22nd July 2026 at National Arena Todor Proeski in Skopje, North Macedonia. Kick-off is at 20:00hrs.
