Malta FA mourns loss of veteran sports journalist Mario Meli

The Malta FA is saddened to learn about the demise of former sports journalist Mario Meli, aged 84.

He is a trailblazer in Maltese sports journalism, having built an impressive career that lasted over 53 years.

Throughout his career, he primarily worked at the Public Broadcasting Services, focusing on radio and television. He was also active in print media, having worked on a number of publications.

Additionally, he was a referee for a number of years, as well as part of the Executive Committee of the Malta Sports Journalists Association. In addition to this, Meli was also on the committees of several local sports associations.

Meli was also the founding member of the Malta Masters Football Association in 2013.

His sports journalistic career came to an end in 2015.
