International Women's Day celebrated through different initiatives

The Malta FA Women's Department has joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Women's Day. It has done this through the organisation of two activities which were great fun for all who participated.
5-a-side games were organised, in collaboration with St Benild’s school, whereas the boys played with the youngest girls in the Malta FA Academy. They were accompanied by Karen Heneghan, Head coach of these girls, together with the National Teams Head Coach Manuela Tesse.

The idea behind this event was to show these young boys, that girls can also be talented football players, and these boys showed great respect and admiration for these girls at such a young age, and it was initiated by Ms. Claudia Vella, Assistant Head at St Benild's.
What an amazing experience! It was a great success!"

The girls' academy meets up every Wednesday to have a futsal session. For this exceptional day, mothers and female guardians were invited to take part with their girls. This was another great event whereas the girls and their family members could celebrate women's day while doing sport.

Thanks for this initiative to bring us together I really enjoyed it”

In the meantime, the Malta Women's Department with the help of the Communications Department at the Malta FA, launched a Woman's Day video to celebrate the lives of women in football. It highlighted the days of three national team players, mainly Dorianne Theuma, Charlene Zammit and Janice Xuereb, how they switch from their daily life, their job and their football training and matches.
