Euro U-19 championship in focus during Youth FA U-11 festival

It was another fun-filled morning for the participating children last Saturday as the Youth Football Association hosted the sixth Enjoying The Game Under-11 Festival at the Centenary Stadium.
This was the sixth Under-11 festival during the current season with the first one held back in October. With the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Malta fast approaching, the event also served as an opportunity to promote this tournament among the young football players who were given invites to apply for free tickets and other merchandise.
The Malta U-19 team has been drawn with Italy, Poland and Portugal in Group A while Group B contains Iceland, Greece, Norway and Spain with the tournament running from 3 to 16 July. The matches will be played in four venues – National Stadium, Centenary Stadium, Gozo Stadium and Tony Bezzina Stadium.
In the meantime, the teams that participated in Saturday’s festival were split into three groups. Every team played three games with two matches played simultaneously. The Under-11 festivals are played in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Malta FA Technical Centre. The overall objective of these Youth FA festivals is for the children to enjoy the game and to this end, no results or classifications are issued.
The participating nurseries were Attard, Balzan, Fgura United, Malta FA Girls Academy, Mġarr United, Melita, Pietà Hotspurs, San Ġwann, Santa Venera Lightnings, Valletta and Żurrieq.
