Outstanding performances on and off the pitch have been recognised, with Momo Ueda, Ileana Farrugia and Charlene Zammit receiving the latest Assikura Women’s League and Youth League monthly honours.

Birkirkara forward Momo Ueda was named the Assikura Women’s League Player of the Month for February/March 2026 after a series of influential displays for the Stripes. The Japanese attacker has been a key figure throughout the season, establishing herself as the club’s leading scorer and consistently delivering when it mattered most. Her goals and attacking contributions played a crucial role in Birkirkara’s strong run of results during the closing stages of the league campaign, helping the team maintain momentum in a highly competitive season.

In the youth category, Hibernians' rising star Ileana Farrugia received the Assikura Women’s Youth League Player of the Month award for February/March 2026. Farrugia enjoyed an outstanding campaign with the Paolites, proving to be one of the team’s most influential players. Her performances helped Hibernians secure the Women’s Youth League title before completing an impressive league-and-cup double with success in the cup competition. Her consistency, determination and quality throughout the season made her a deserving recipient of the award.

Recognition also went to the dugout, with former Birkirkara’s Charlene Zammit being named Assikura Women’s League Coach of Round 4. Zammit played a pivotal role in guiding the Stripes through an excellent run of form during the latter part of the season, overseeing the team’s resurgence in the domestic league. Her leadership, tactical approach and ability to inspire her squad were instrumental in Birkirkara’s positive performances and strong finish to the campaign.

These awards serve as recognition of the dedication, talent and hard work demonstrated by players and coaches alike, whose contributions continue to raise the standard of women’s football in Malta.

Carl Fenech on behalf of Assikura Insurance Brokers PCC Limited, presented the awards to the winners during a brief ceremony held at the company’s offices in Santa Venera.
