Mġarr United wrap up historic unbeaten run

Champions Mġarr United brought the curtain down on the Assikura Women’s League season in emphatic fashion, securing a convincing victory to cap off a dominant and unbeaten campaign. The final round of fixtures delivered plenty of goals and standout performances across the board, as teams looked to finish their seasons on a high.

Champions Mġarr United brought their Assikura Women’s League campaign to a fitting conclusion with an impressive 4–1 victory over Hibernians, putting the finishing touches on a title-winning and unbeaten season.
After a tightly contested and goalless first half, Mġarr stepped up the tempo after the break and were rewarded when Yulya Carella opened the scoring in the 52nd minute. Growing in confidence, Carella struck again shortly after the hour mark to double her side’s advantage and put Mġarr firmly in control of the contest.
With momentum fully on their side, Mġarr continued to press forward, and Veronique Mifsud added a third goal in the 76th minute to all but seal the result. Valeria Villegas then completed the scoring late on, capping off a dominant second-half display and underlining Mġarr United’s superiority as they closed the season in style.

Meanwhile, Swieqi United produced the standout result of the matchday, cruising to a resounding 14–1 victory over Valletta in a completely one-sided contest.
Salamatu Abdulai was the star of the show, netting an impressive five goals to lead the rout, while further contributions came in the form of braces from Jade Flask, Shona Zammit, Sara Saliba, and Andjela Kricak. Swieqi’s relentless attacking display proved too much for Valletta to handle, as they dominated from start to finish and underlined their attacking prowess in emphatic fashion.

Birkirkara also ended their season on a high note, recording a convincing 5–0 victory over San Ġwann.
Momo Ueda was the standout performer, leading the way with an impressive hat-trick, while Izabella Stringer and Ruth Steer-Chetham each added a goal to round off a dominant display. Birkirkara controlled the match throughout, showcasing their attacking quality and finishing the campaign with confidence.

Swieqi United’s Salamatu Abdulai finished the season as the league’s top scorer, registering an impressive tally of 22 goals and underlining her importance to her team’s attacking success.
With the league campaign now concluded, focus shifts to the domestic cup, which is set to kick off on April 4 with the preliminary round, marking the start of the next phase of the season.
