A colourful attraction which is surely relished by spectators in international football matches nowadays is the players’ escorts as they step on the various playing pitches prior to the sporting hostilities. The Malta - Norway and Malta - Italy Euro 2016 qualifiers are no exception as the players entered the playing area each escorted by youngsters of both sexes. The same will happen against Italy. The crowd at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium acknowledged this gesture, yesterday, which was part of the MFA’s commitment of Football Social Responsibility aimed at widening its care towards members of society who are on the fringes of our community. In the first match against Norway on Friday 10th October, the youngsters were from the Special Olympics while those against Italy Monday evening will representing the Inspire group. Society as a whole is indeed grateful to the Malta FA in the wake of similar initiatives to promote an awareness that the game recognises its social responsibilties towards the members of the public at large.
