Ħamrun S. v Valletta catching the eye in opening MD

The BOV Premier League draws took place on Friday with reigning Champions Ħamrun Spartans facing arch-rivals Valletta FC catching the eye in MD1 to be played between Thursday August 12th and Saturday August 14th.
Other Match Day 1 fixtures are Mosta v Birkirkara, Gudja United face Sirens, two sides still in UEFA competions, Gżira United and Hibernians go head to head, Balzan rub shoulders with Sliema Wanderers in 1st match, Floriana start their league journey against the side knocking them out of FA Trophy last season, Santa Lucia FC. Some nail-biting fixtures at the end of phase one of competition before Championship and Relegation Phase, with Ħamrun Spartans facing a tricky match against Sliema Wanderers, Floriana v Hibernians is always a gripping encounter, with the pick of them all and needless to say the contest between two title contenders presumably also this coming season, Valletta and Birkirkara. The Women's National League sees Birkirkara determined more than ever to regain title after the upset this last season declared null and void as they start against newcomers San Ġwann on the opening day of the BOV Women’s League. The 2021/2022 Women's League is scheduled to start on September 28 and it will run until end of April with all seven teams to face each other three times for a total of 18 games. Senglea Ath. against Tarxien R. is the key fixture on opening day in BOV Challenge League, both sides back in second tier ensuing several years in the big time face each other in opening day. A new-look BOV Challenge League this season made up of two sections, A and B with 11 teams in each section. Grupp A containing Lija Athletic FC, Żejtun Corinthians FC, Pembroke Athleta FC, Marsaxlokk FC, Naxxar Lions FC, San Ġwann FC, Mqabba FC, Vittoriosa Stars FC, St George’s FC, Melita FC, Rabat Ajax FC Grupp B with Tarxien Rainbows FC, Senglea Athletic FC, Marsa FC, Qrendi FC, Żebbuġ Rangers FC, Swieqi United FC, Pietà Hotspurs FC, St Andrews FC, Fgura United FC, Luqa St Andrews FC and Mġarr United FC. National Amateur League with 10 teams in section A, 9 shaping up Section B as illustrated below. Grupp A – Msida St Joseph’s FC, Attard FC, Xgħajra Tornadoes FC, Birżebbuġa St Peter’s FC, Siġġiewi FC, Kalkara United FC, Dingli Swallows FC, Ta’ Xbiex SC, Għargħur FC, Għaxaq FC Grupp B – Qormi FC, Żurrieq FC, Mtarfa FC, Kirkop United FC, Mellieħa SC, Marsaskala FC, Żabbar St Patrick’s FC, Santa Venera Lightnings FC, Mdina Knights FC.
