The first ever Referees’ Winter Seminar organised recently by the Malta FA Refereeing Department in collaboration with the Malta Football Referees’ Association was a huge success.

61 match officials from 5 different categories participated in a two day seminar at the Babylon Suite, Cavalieri Art Hotel, St Julian’s.  The theme of the seminar was “Achieving Greater Understanding and Consistency”.

An important aspect of the seminar was the observation, group discussion and analysis of the Irish Refereeing Team performance in charge of the U*BET FA Trophy Naxxar Lions vs Valletta (0-1).

David Elleray, UEFA Referees’ Committee member responsible for Malta, was the main speaker at the seminar.  His presentations focused on “Confrontation”, “Teamwork and Cooperation”, “Concentration and Awareness”.

Director of Refereeing Adrian Casha and Development Officer Victor Mintoff were the other instructors at the seminar, while Senior Refereeing Officer Silvio Tanti was the other representative of the Malta FA Referees’ Committee.

Libyan FIFA Referee Mohamed Rajab, currently refereeing in Malta, was also one of the participants.
