A women’s football coaches and administrators half-day seminar was held on Saturday 8 February at the MFA Technical Centre, Ta’ Qali. The event dealt with several interesting topics relating to the organisation and administration of clubs and the work involved in coaching.   The main speakers at this well-attended event were Mario Debattista, St Andrew’s Football Nursery administrator, Paul Zammit, Birkirkara’s senior team coach and head coach National Sports School, and Renzo Kerr Cumbo, head coach Tarxien Rainbows Nursery. The first speaker stressed the importance of teamwork and commitment when running a club. These should be based on three points, coming together, which is the beginning, keeping together to sustain progress and working together which is the recipe for success. Paul Zammit referred to the importance of coach education, pointing out that grooming the youngsters is the basis of a solid coaching structure. Kerr Cumbo spoke about fitness, saying that good physical preparation should be a forerunner of optimal fitness throughout the season. The MFA officials present thanked the speakers for their excellent presenation and said the participants will be inspired to work harder for the women’s game and this would lead to eventual success.
