UEFA has announced the promotion of 35 year old Clayton Pisani to Category 2, after the latter was confirmed by FIFA as one of Malta’s International Referees for the sixth year running.   Clayton Pisani commenced refereeing in 1994 at the young age of 16.  The Hamrun Spartans vs Pieta’ Hotspurs (0-3) match on 29th August 2003 marked Clayton Pisani’s debut as a referee in the Premier League.  To date he has been in charge of 145 Premier League matches and was involved in 25 international matches.  After becoming a FIFA Referee at the beginning of 2009, Clayton Pisani made his international debut as referee of the UEFA Under 17 match, Scotland vs Georgia (0-1) in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria on 20th March 2009.  Among his most memorable matches was the FA Trophy Final, Valletta vs Qormi (2-1), on 23rd May 2010. In a brief statement, a delighted Clayton Pisani remarked that: “this promotion is very satisfying and rewards my hard work, motivation and passion for refereeing.  I am now looking forward to continue moving ahead, learn from every match, enjoy the experience and be of service to MFA, UEFA and FIFA.”
