Albania, after a slow start had some shots at goal but it was the home team who scored first with a well taken shot by Luke Montebello in the twenty fourth minute after an excellent through pass by Llywelyn Cremona. Albania, in white shirts and shorts, managed to score in the second half in a solitary attack when their attacker was floored inside the Maltese box. Marku Kristi calmly took the responsibilty of the penalty and scored dispatching the keeper the other way. Luke Montebello nearly scored again with barely five minutes to go after a choral move ended with a well placed shot by the Birkirkara striker who hit the upright with the ball bouncing back in the field of play. The match was refereed by Glenn Tonna, assisted by Sandro Spiteri and Redeemer Caruana. Edwin Camilleri commented to mfa.com.mt "This was a positive match and with some more attention we could have easily won the game. For all of our players this was their first international experience and we definitely need more of these kind of games to help our learning curve." Malta and Albania meet each other again in the second friendly International friendly Under 17 match on Thursday at 11:00 Hrs at the Hibernians Stadium.
