Malta's Women's Under 19 team lost their second match in the UEFA Women's Under 19 Qualification Mini Tournament being played in Serbia. After a 2-2 draw with the hosts, Malta were beaten 3-0 by holland. Although the Dutch enjoyed an overwhelming superiority throughout the 90 minutes, the Maltese girls managed to contain a marginal 1-0 scoreline until three minutes from the end. L-Strik had by then scored the only goal for Holland in the 34th minute. J. Roord (87th min) and I. Van der Zanden (90+1 min) scored the two goals in the dying moments. After the amtch Coach Mark Gatt said “This was a very hard game and no one is happy to loose a game but when I see the girls giving out their best challenge till the last minute it makes me proud.  Considering we played against giants in football and starting with 8 players which are a year younger I cannot but praise my girls at the way they defended and fought for every ball till the end. Some teams will be happy loosing with just 3 goals against these teams but I had some of my girls crying after the game as they wanted something better and that shows you the determination and courage of these girls. We are slowly achieving our mission we came here for and getting the respect this whole team deserves.”  Malta will now face Bosnia & Herzegovina in their final match which will be played on Thursday 26th September. Full match report;  UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship Qualifying Round 1, Mini tournament Group 6 Netherlands vs Malta Final Score:  3 – 0 (L.
