Malta was recently represented in a regional seminar for Integrity Officers of national associations held in Ukraine, Kiev, on the 25 and 26 June.  Our officer, Franz Tabone, was invited to deliver two presentations, an assignment which further rubberstamped the high esteem our association’s Integrity Officer enjoys within UEFA’s Disciplinary echelons. In fact the MFA is considered to be at the forefront of UEFA’s fight against match-fixing.    Integrity Officers from Russia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Armenia, Moldova, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and hosts Ukraine participated in the two-day event. The primary scope of the sessions were to share experiences and best practice, with various specific scenarios being discussed each presenting its own difficulty. Questions and answers followed each presentation. The agenda comprised an introduction and the main themes were investigation and education followed by discussions, conclusions and recommendations. The seminar was conducted by UEFA Officials, Graham Peaker, Intelligence Co-ordinator, Urs, Kluser, Integrity Officer and Karl Dhont, Disciplinary Inspector.
