The Bank of Valletta Premier League for season 2012-2013 is set for a grandstand finish with six matches to go for the end of an enthralling trek which started last August. Rarely has there been such an exciting race which should have a palpitating dash for the title in the home straight.   The three top teams still in with a chance of lifting the coveted championship prize are joint leaders with 39 points, Birkirkara and Hibernians, and Valletta who are lying three points adrift. The issue will be resolved during the week between April and  May, with each of these three protagonists playing two crucial matches. The piece de resistance will be the direct encounter between Birkirkara and Valletta and that between Valletta and Hibernians. In between these matches the Paolites will face Mosta and the Stripes come up against Tarxien. As the teams lock horns there are intriguing permutations as to the final outcome. Probably, very few pundits are expected to put heavy money on where Malta’s top honour will go. What is sure is that supporters of the three teams will be thronging to the National Stadium to give massive backing to their favourite teams. The place will be vibrating with noise and certainly brimming with colour. At the end of the day there will be victors and vanquished. However, the public will surely anticipate that ultimately the game will be the winner.
