The Malta Women Senior Team has visited the Association for Abandoned Animals in Ħal Far during their free time whilst gathered to participate in the VisitMalta Women’s Trophy.  The visit was organised by the Football Social Responsibility Department, under the helm of the Fondazzjoni Inħobb il-Football to create awareness of the importance of being responsible pet-owners.  The abandonment of pets is a social problem and it is thus imperative to raise awareness regarding animal adoption so that people understand that this gives animals a new opportunity. The Malta FA understands that actions surrounding the game of football have an enormous impact on society, especially the younger generation. That brings a responsibility that football cannot ignore and is why the Malta FA has integrated social responsibility into its strategy.Football can play a lead role in promoting behavioural changein society. The Malta National Teams are role models for many and can contributein bringing about this change.  There are problems that the Malta FA cannot realistically solve however it has the power to raise awareness about the scale of the problem. Football has demonstrated its power for social good and the aim of this visit was also to show and value the work of those who dedicate their lives to animal protection.   The AAA is one of them, who collects and gives shelter to defenseless domestic animals that suffer abandonment and/or abuse.     The AAA hosts 70 dogs and depends solely on donations. At the end of the visit the WNT presented a monetary donation to AAA.
