Premier stats: Milestones for Triston Caruana, Niki Muscat

Only five matches the past weekend, including two re-shuffled fixtures on Monday. Two wonderful milestones reached by Valletta international Triston Caruana and Niki Muscat of Gzira United, who is also part of the Malta national team squad. Furthermore, Plut, Akinbule, Jake Grech and Paiber in the limelight, as well as coach Winston Muscat and referee Emanuel Grech!  20 – Slovenian forward Vito Plut became the 20th substitute to put his name on the scoresheet. He reduced the deficit for Santa Lucia in a 3-1 defeat against Floriana after he came on in 46th minute for Patrick Silva Mota.  50 – Jake Grech’s goal in which he sealed a 3-1 win for Hibernians over Gzira United was the 50th MPL game in which he scored a solitary goal.  50 – Fifty days have passed since Hamrun Spartans scored from an own goal after Haris Dilaver put into his own net in a 1-0 victory against Valletta. On 23rd October it was Gudja United’s Farid Zuniga who had the misfortune to unintentionally deceive his own goalkeeper.  70 – Referee Emanuel Grech controlled the 70th match in the top division in Floriana’s 3-1 victory against Santa Lucia. He made his debut on 18th September 2016 when he controlled the match Hamrun Spartans v St Andrews (3-1).  90 – Floriana midfielder Brandon Paiber became the 90th scorer of the season. He sealed the 3-1 victory over Santa Lucia, converting from the penalty spot.  100 – Nigerian striker Sunday Akinbule bagged the 100th MPL goal this season at the Tony Bezzina Stadium when he broke the deadlock for Mosta in a 2-2 draw against Birkirkara.  100 – Midfielder Nikolai Muscat made his 100th apperance in Gzira United’s 3-1 loss against Hibernians. He made his debut for the Maroons on 26th August 2017 in a 2-0 win against Birkirkara when he substituted Samba Tounkara.  140 – Coach Winston Muscat reached the 140th appearance on the touchline in Sirens’ goalless draw against Gudja United. After he made his debut on 12th September 2010 in Vittoriosa Stars’ 3-0 defeat against Valletta, he managed four other teams – Marsaxlokk, Naxxar Lions, Pembroke Athleta and Tarxien Rainbows.   300 – Triston Caruana became the 57th player in the history of the game who reached the 300 appearances at top level. The Valletta international played the whole 90 minutes against Hamrun Spartans last Monday, his 12th league appearance this season, not missing a single match so far. Triston made 91 appearances in the colours of Tarxien Rainbows, 62 each for Hibernians and Hamrun Spartans, 45 for Qormi and 40 for Valletta.
