Cremona, Mbong and Plut in the limelight

There were some interesting facts and figures to mention once more in Match Day 11 of the 2021/22 BOV Premier Division, including milestones for Llywelyn Cremona, Joseph Mbong and Vito Plut. 1 – Tensior Gusman’s brace for Gudja United in the 3-0 win against Mosta, was his first in the top division. It was also the sixth brace for a Gudja player, the others were Gabriel Mensah (2), Yuri de Jesus Messias (2) and James Brincat (1).  25 – Steve Pisani’s goal for Gzira United against Sirens was his 25th in the Premier Division. 30 – Yuri de Jesus Messias’ third goal for Gzira United in their 3-1 win against Sirens meant that this was the 30th time that the Maroons scored three goals in a match in the top flight.  40 – The 3-3 draw between Santa Lucia and Balzan was the 40th match in which Slovenian forward, Vito Plut, put his name on the scoresheet in the Premier League. He opened the account for Santa Lucia in the seventh minute of the match.  50 – Matthew Guillaumier’s first goal of the season was the 50th by Maltese players. The Malta international midfielder broke the deadlock in Hamrun Spartans’ 2-0 win against Sliema Wanderers.  100 – Franklin Sasere’s second goal in Hamrun Spartans’ 2-0 victory over Sliema Wanderers was the 100th from open play this season. 120 – With the match Gudja United versus Mosta (3-0), referee Philip Farrugia reached 120 matches in the top division. He made his debut on 21st September 2013,Valletta v Naxxar Lions (1-0), a match played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. 130 – The goalless draw between Hibernians and Floriana was the 130th (0-0) for the Greens in the top division.  150 – Two players made their 150th appearance in the Premier League. Llywelyn Cremona was used as a substitute in Gudja United’s 3-0 against Mosta. He made his debut on 10th September 2011 while with Valletta in their 3-1 win against Qormi.  Hamrun Spartans midfielder Joseph Mbong, who played the full match against Sliema Wanderers (2-0), also reached 150 MPL appearances. Incidentally, his first match in the top flight was also in a victory (3-1) against the Wanderers, on 27th August 2014, while playing for Hibernians.   200 – Canadian Martin Davis became the 200th substitute to enter the field of player in the last 15 minutes (75-90). He replaced Brazilian Yuri de Jesus Messias on 90th minute in Gzira United’s 3-1 victory against Sirens.
