The Malta FA Executive Board met today 7th December 2021. The following is a roundup of the key issues arising from the meeting.   UEFA, through the Club Financial Control Body, has backed the Malta FA’sUEFA Club Licensing decision on the granting of licence to Birkirkara FC to participate in the 2021/22 UEFA Club Competitions and stated that ‘...Birkirkara FC was correctly granted the necessary licence to enter the 2021/22 UEFA competitions by MFA and, as result, the UEFA Club Financial Control Body decided not to open any proceedings against Birkirkara FC’. The Executive Board has acknowledged the settlement of the long-standing dispute between Qormi FC and former international player George Mallia, who until now was considered a ‘persona non grata’ for resorting to external judicial means, in breach of Malta FA regulations at the time. An audit was conducted by UEFA on the Elite Player Performance Programme, a key technical programme through which a group of selected young players from the senior and youth levels of the national team are monitored at an individual level. The project encompasses different aspects of player development, namely strength and conditioning, nutrition, mental preparation and a specific training programme for high-level goalkeepers. The final feedback of the Audit Committee confirmed that the objectives set prior by the MFA Technical Centre were being met. The admnistration reported on a recent UEFA Site Visit in relation to the Under19 Final Tournament to be hosted in Malta in 2023. It is now confirmed that the tournament will be played between the 1st and the 14th of July 2023.  During the visit the following criteria were discussed with the MFA administration and a report will now be drawn up by the UEFA delegation for implimentation: Draw Venue, Match Stadia Evaluation; National Football Project Presentation; Accommodation; Training Faciliities; and Calendar Evaluation. The Board will be reconvening shortly to continue its discussion on the Association’s budget for 2022 and other items of relevant importance.
