Title hopefuls Swieqi United and Mġarr United will take centre stage in this week's Matchday 6 of the MFA Women's League as they take on each other at the Centenary Stadium, on Tuesday. Meanwhile, leaders Birkirkara will be serving a bye this week after scoring 13 points in their opening five games.

Swieqi will be striving to bounce back to winning ways after last week's surprising draw with Raiders Lija. The Oranges missed the chance to join Birkirkara at the top of the league as they are now sharing second place with their next opponents on 10 points.

After four games, Swieqi are yet to concede a goal and have the second best attacking record with 24 goals with Dorianne Theuma topping their scorers list with five. Theuma is one five players who have scored a hat-trick in this campaign, which include also Mġarr duo Brenda Borg and Francesca Chircop.

The Greens served a bye last week after their hard-fought 0-0 draw against leaders Birkirkara in the previous Matchday. Together with Swieqi and also Birkirkara, Michael Mangion's side are yet to concede a goal while scoring 13 in the four games they played in. Captain Borg is currently the club and league's top scorer with six goals - five of them in a single fixture against Mtarfa.

In the other Tuesday's game, Kirkop United will face Mtarfa at the Mġarr Ground.

The Reds are at the back of a 3-1 victory over San Ġwann which was their first win of the season after three consecutive defeats. Sarah Urpani, Aleksandra Georgieva and Rodianne Zerafa were on the scoresheet for the Reds.

Mtarfa, on their part, lost to Birkirkara last week as they have only point after five games which they gained in a 0-0 draw against San Ġwann.

On Wednesday, San Ġwann and Raiders Lija will wrap up this slate of fixtures as they will meet at the Centenary Stadium.

San Ġwann lost to Kirkop last week in a game where they scored their first ever goal in the senior women's league, thanks to Malta U-19's international Yulya Carella. They also have one point together with Mtarfa, but after playing four league fixtures.

On the other hand, Raiders Lija managed to record an upset as they held title challengers Swieqi to a goalless stalemate. Led by coach Denis Guerra, Raiders are currently fourth in the the seven-team league with four points after recording a victory over Mtarfa besides the Swieqi draw.
