Ħamrun Spartans and Malta midfielder Matthew Guillaumier is the Malta Football Association Player of the Year for the season 2020/21. The 23-year-old enjoyed an excellent season as his influential performances helped Ħamrun Spartans to win their eighth Premier League title after a lapse of 30 years. Guillaumier has also established himself as a key player for the national team, under the guidance of head coach Devis Mangia.

Coaches, captains and officials of all the clubs in the respective divisions and a panel of journalists who follow the various leagues take part in the voting process for the individual awards.

Premier League champions Ħamrun Spartans racked up two more honours as Mark Buttigieg won the best coach award while their Ivorian striker Soares Jorge Ailton secured the best foreign player accolade.

Striker Alexander Satariano, who recently joined Italian club Frosinone from Sliema Wanderers, was named young player of the year. Satariano also had a very positive season for the Blues and also made his breakthrough with the national team, scoring a fine goal in the 2-2 draw away to Slovakia in a 2022 World Cup qualifier.

Attard FC forward Nicholas Schembri was named best player of the BOV National Amateur League, having also topped the scoring charts in the inaugural edition of the third-tier championship.

Eduardo Garcia Riano, of Swieqi United, was voted best player in the futsal league.
