Leaders Birkirkara will be looking to extend their unbeaten run in this season to 11 games when they face Mosta, at the Mġarr Ground on Wednesday (kick-off: 20.30).

Third-place side Mġarr United will take on in-form Kirkop United a clash that has the cards to be an exciting clash whereas Raiders Għargħur will be in search of second straight win as they face Mtarfa.

Under the guidance of coach Melania Bajada, Birkirkara have opened a five-point lead at the top of the BOV Women’s League, with a game in hand as well.

Last week, they made it 10 wins from as many games played after their 4-1 win over Kirkop United. Four different goalscorers, including club’s top scorer Raina Giusti who has now scored 10 goals and Yasmeen Vella, on her first goal of the season.

The victory against Kirkop has also extended Birkirkara’s unbeaten run in the league to 47 games, 12 short of the all-time record set by Hibernians between 1999/2000 and 2004/2005.

Mosta, on their part, remain second-bottom with six points following last week’s defeat to Raiders Għargħur.

One team looking to bounce back from a difficult result last week will be Mġarr. In the previous Match Day, the Greens succumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Swieqi United, who will serve a bye this week.

Mġarr have slipped into third on 22 points and will be looking to rejoin Swieqi at second, even though they will have a difficult task at hand in Kirkop.

In fact, Kirkop are fourth with 15 points and while they are at the back of a defeat against Birkirkara, they have proved to be a resilient side time and again during the season.

An encounter that sees the league’s top two scorers face each other as well, in Francesca Chircop of Mġarr who is leading with 17 goals and Kirkop’s Rodianne Zerafa, who trails by just four goals.

Elsewhere, Raiders will take on bottom side Mtarfa. For Raiders, this will be their 402nd league match in their history after marking their 400th appearance in their Kirkop fixture, a fortnight ago.

Raiders have nine points to show after 10 outings whereas Mtarfa are still in search of their first points in this campaign.
