Football For Life – Presentation of annual donations to NGOs

As part of its ongoing social responsibility initiatives, the Malta Football Association has presented donations to 18 non-profit organisations. The donations were presented during a networking event held at the Trophies Lounge where the Malta FA’s policy of reaching out to the community through football and football-related activities was discussed with the representatives of the NGOs.  Through its Football For Life programme, the Malta FA strives to create partnerships with the community and in so doing promotes awareness on a number of issues. The annual donations are intended to support the activities several NGOs whose work in different sectors of the society touches the lives of so many people, especially those in need. “Football creates opportunities for all, both on and off the field,” Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the General Secretary of the Malta FA, said. “Ensuring that football has a positive impact on the society is at the heart of our efforts to assist and support good causes through our Football For Life programme. We feel it is our duty to do so.” The beneficiaries of the Football For Life programme include Puttinu Cares, Dar tal-Providenza, OASI, ALS, Noah’s Ark, Ursuline Sisters, Action for Breast Cancer, Marigold, Richmond Foundation, Frame Football, the Millennium Chapel, Fondazzjoni Nazareth, Alive Cycling Challenge, St Joseph Institute, Dar Emmaus, Inspire, Hospice Movement and Child Action Nepal. In addition, the Malta FA makes an annual donation of €12,000 to the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation. SOCIAL PROJECTSThe support through the Football For Life programme extends beyond the financial aspect as the Malta FA regularly undertakes projects and initiatives. Play Football Live Football is the name of the third Malta FA project to promote and facilitate the integration and social inclusion of refugees as well as Maltese nationals encountering difficulties to integrate in the community. In the coming weeks, the Malta is launching a new volunteer project for all those who would like to help and contribute to our activities under the Football for Life programme. More information may be obtained by sending an email to peter.busuttil@mfa.com.mt
