The Maltese national team continuously welcomes new and young faces to the fold and, in 2019 alone, six players donned the national shirt for the first time.  These are Birkirkara midfielder Matthew Guillaumier, Ħamrun Spartans defender Karl Micallef, Sliema Wanderers defender Kurt Shaw, Floriana duo Brandon Paiber and defender Jurgen Pisani and Gżira United midfielder Nikolai Muscat. The latter became the 100 player to make his Malta debut at the National Stadium when he came on for Rowen Muscat in the second half of the 2-1 defeat to Norway in the final EURO 2020 Group F qualifier in November. STATISTICS MATTHEW GUILLAUMIER (Birkirkara)23rd March, 2019 – National Stadiumvs Faroe Islands 2-1 (Euro 2020)Full debut (90 minutes)Age: 20 years, 11 months, 14 days27th Birkirkara player to make his first appearance for Malta20th Birkirkara player to make home debut1st Birkirkara player to debut in the European Championship qualifiers KARL MICALLEF (Ħamrun Spartans)26th March, 2019 ¬– National Stadiumvs Spain 0-2 (Euro 2020)Substituted Jonathan Caruana in the 85th minuteAge: 22 years, 6 months, 18 days16th Ħamrun Spartans player to make his first appearance for Malta12th Ħamrun Spartans player to make home debut2nd Ħamrun Spartans player to debut in the European Championship qualifiersKURT SHAW (Sliema Wanderers)12th October 2019 – National Stadiumvs Sweden 0-4 (Euro 2020)Full debut (90 minutes)Age: 20 years, six months, 11 days57th Sliema Wanderers player to make his first appearance for Malta33rd Sliema Wanderers player to make home debut10th Sliema Wanderers player debut in the European Championship qualifiers BRANDON PAIBER (Floriana)15th November, 2019 – Estadio Ramon de Carranza – Cadizvs Spain 0-7 (Euro 2020)Full debut (90 minutes)Age: 24 years, five months, 10 days46th Floriana player to make his first appearance for Malta16th Floriana player to make away debut for national team9th Floriana debutant in the European Championship qualifiers JURGEN PISANI (Floriana)15th November 2019 – Estadio Ramon de Carranza – Cadizvs Spain 0-7 (Euro 2020)Was substituted by Jake Grech in the 76th minuteAge: 27 years, two months – 12 days47th Floriana player to make his first appearance for Malta17th Floriana player to make away debut for national team10th Floriana debutant in the European Championship qualifiers NIKOLAI MUSCAT (Gżira United)18th November 2019 – National Stadiumvs Norway 1-2 (Euro 2020)Substituted Rowen Muscat in the 70th minuteAge: 23 years, four months, five days4th Gżira United player to make his first appearance for Malta2nd Gżira United player to make home debut1st Gżira United debutant in the European Championship qualifiers
