In line with its commitment to support and promote football at all levels, the Malta Football Association has signed Memorandums of Understanding with its Member Associations. The agreements, covering a four-year period, set out the rights and obligations of each Member Association, and the level of support and benefits, both financial and logistical, they are entitled to receive by virtue of their affiliation with the Malta FA. A total of 12 Member Associations signed the MOU during a ceremony held before the last Malta FA Council Meeting. Bjorn Vassallo, the Malta FA President, hailed the important role of the Member Associations in promoting football at grassroots and youth level, as a means of recreation, and also in the coaching sector. “These agreements are conducive to greater stability as Member Associations can plan in advance knowing exactly the level of assistance they will be receiving from the Malta FA over a four-year cycle,” Vassallo said. “Football is not just about the Premier League and the competitive element. Grassroots, youth development, recreational football and also coaching are an integral part of our footballing landscape. These MOUs not only recognise the importance of the work carried out by our Member Associations but will also enable closer collaboration.” The Malta FA has signed agreements with the following associations – Gozo FA, Gozo Youth FA, Malta Amateur Football Association (MAFA), Inter Amateur Soccer Competition (IASC), Industries Sports Association (ISA), Malta Employees Sports Association (MESA), Masters Football Association, Malta Football Coaches Association (MFCA), Youth FA, Veterans Central Malta Football Association, SWAN and GIDA. The Malta FA is also engaged in discussions to sign Memorandums of Understanding with the Malta Football Referees Association, the Futsal Malta Association and the Malta Beach Soccer Association.
