After Swieqi United’s victory over Mġarr United in last week’s top game, the BOV Women's League is now led by three teams on 10 points. With Swieqi serving a bye this week, fellow leaders Birkirkara and Mġarr United have the opportunity to open a three-point lead at the top.

Mosta vs Birkirkara (Tuesday, Mosta Ground – 20.15)

Despite not playing on Matchday Five, Birkirkara still received a boost to their title defence as last year’s runners-up Mġarr United fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Swieqi United. Birkirkara are sharing top spot with Mġarr United and Swieqi but the Stripes have a game in hand.

In their last league outing, Birkirkara defeated Swieqi 4-1. Last Friday, Birkirkara hosted Irish side Cork City in a friendly match with Melania Bajada's team stepping up their level as they shared the spoils in a 3-3 draw.

Mosta, on their part, have chalked up two points in three games so far. Last week's encounter with Kirkop United was abandoned on minute 60 at 0-0. The match will be resumed on January 14, 2020.

Raiders Għargħur vs Kirkop United (Tuesday, Mġarr Ground – 20.15)

Raiders Għargħur take on Kirkop United at the Dingli Ground. Raiders have so far obtained one win and two draws while Kirkop United, who have had a tough opening to the league, have yet to open their account.

However, after facing the top three teams of this league, this could be a good opportunity for Kirkop to challenge for their first points of the season.

For Raiders, a win would boost their project and keep them in the upper part of the table.

Hibernians vs Mġarr United (Wednesday, Dingli Ground - 20.15)

Mġarr United will be looking to bounce back from the Swieqi defeat as they face bottom side Hibernians.

The Greens have scored 20 goals in their first four outings so far but came up short in their last outing.

For them only a victory will do as they seek to maintain their title challenge alongside Birkirkara and Swieqi United.

The much-changed Hibernians side have only one point after four outings in what has been a difficult start to the season so far.

Birkirkara (4 games played), Mġarr United (5), Swieqi United (5) 10; Raiders Għargħur (4) 5; Mosta (3) 2; Hibernians (4) 1; Kirkop United 3 (0).
