Valletta, Luxol SA set the pace in Elite Futsal Championship

Valletta FC Futsal and Luxol St Andrews Futsal are setting the pace in these early stages of the 2019-20 Elite Futsal Championship. The Citizens secured a hard-fought 3-1 win against University of Malta Futsal on Wednesday and Luxol cruised to a 9-1 win over Swieqi United on Friday. The two rivals are sharing top spot with six points. Serbian star Dusan Rakic opened the scoring for Valletta after nine minutes and Kurt Bartolo made it 2-0 before the interval. In the second half, Georgian Gia Nikvashvili sealed the win with the third goal for the team led by coach Carlo Scicluna. Seconds later, the Universitarians scored a consolation goal through former Valletta player Dylan Musú. On Friday night, Luxol gained second league win on their return to domestic action following their participation in the Main Round of the UEFA Futsal Champions League. Led by coach Gabriel Dobre, Luxol beat Swieqi United 9-1.
