The Malta Under-19 team’s participation in the Roma Caput Mundi Tournament ended on a disappointing note on Thursday as they went down 3-0 to Kosovo in their final group match.  Kosovo took a 2-0 half-time lead before adding a third in the second half. The Maltese team had a great chance to narrow the deficit late on but Alex Satariano’s penalty was saved by the Kosovo goalkeeper. The win was not enough for Kosovo to reach the final as they finished second in the group on seven points, two behind the Lazio Regional Selection. The latter will meet the Italy Lega Nazionale Dilettanti team in Friday’s final. The defeat to Kosovo was the Malta Under-19 team’s third in this tournament after losing to the England Colleges National Team (0-3) and Lazio Regional Selection (0-2). The Malta U-19 side’s participation in the Roma Caput Mundi Tournament was part of their build-up for the qualifying round of the 2019/2020 UEFA U-19 Championship later this year. Italy, the tournament hosts, Slovakia and Cyprus are the other teams in Group 6. Winston Muscat, the Malta Un-19 coach, fielded the following formation for the match against Kosovo:Ryan Vella, Andreas Vella, Christian Gauci, Shaun Dimech, Jake Engerer, Bradley Sciberras, Paul Mbong, Alex Satariano, Sheldon Mizzi, Carlo Zammit Lonardelli, Matthew Portelli.
