Alba’s derby strike takes season’s total to 180 goals

10 – Hibernians midfielder Tiago Adan Fonseca missed the 10th penalty of the season in his side’s 4-0 win over Mosta. Incidentally, the first player who failed to score from the penalty spot this season was his Hibernians team-mate Johann Bezzina in the 2-0 defeat against Floriana on 14th September.  30 – Hibernians and Mosta met for the 30th time last weekend .... the record favours the Paolites, who won 4-0, with 21 victories, four draws and five defeats. 60 – Birkirkira striker Michael Mifsud hit a brace in their 2-0 win over Sliema Wanderers on Friday. His second goal was the 60th of the season at the National Stadium. 60 – Tarxien Rainbows’ 2-1 win over Senglea Athletic marked coach Josè Borg’s 60th match in the top flight... St Andrew’s (25)a and Tarxien R. (35). He made his coaching debut on 1st December, 2015 in St Andrew’s 4-0 defeat to Pembroke Athleta. 70 – Pietà Hotspurs’ 1-1 draw against Gżira United was their 70th match at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. Their record at this venue is 20 wins, 14 draws and 36 defeats. 90 – Ħamrun Spartans flank defender Karl Micallef became the 90th scorer of the season after he netted the second goal, in the 70th minute, in their 2-0 victory over Qormi. Micallef is also Ħamrun’s sixth scorer this season 170 – After scoring the 150th goal of this season (against Floriana), Pietà Hotspurs forward Paul Chimezie also netted the 170th when he opened the scoring in their 1-1 draw against Gżira United. Incidentally the 160th goal was also scored by a Nigerian player ... Haruna Zambuk Garba in Gżira’s 3-0 win over Balzan. 180 – Valletta winger Miguel Angel Alba scored the only goal in their 1-0 derby win over Floriana. Alba’s goal took this season’s total to 180.... an average of 2.86 goals per game. 240 –Alba’s dery strike was the 240th for the Lilywhites in their direct encounters with Floriana. 290 – Sliema Wanderers defender Jonathan Pearson became the 290th player to feature in this season’s Premier League. He was substituted in the 84th minute by Stefan Cassar in their 2-0 defeat against Birkirkara. 510 – Total appearances of players aged between 25 and 30 ... 238 are Maltese.
