Balzan amass 250 top-flight games – Facts and Figures

2 – Bojan Kaljevic’s hat-trick for Valletta in their 5-1 victory against Senglea Athletic was the second of the season. The first one came from St Andrew’s Jamaican striker, Kevaughn Atkinson, in their 3-1 victory over Mosta on 18th August, 2018.  4 – While Balzan registered their fourth consecutive win, St Andrew’s slumped to their fourth defeat in a row. 8 – Referees Darryl Agius and Ishmael Barbara officiated their eighth match in the BOV Premier League. Agius was in control of Balzan vs Pieta Hotspurs (1-0) while Barbara refereed Qormi vs Floriana (1-3). 10 – Valletta’s fifth goal against Senglea Ahtletic, netted by Kaljevic, was their 10th goal during the second period while Floriana’s third goal in their 3-1 victory over Qormi, scored by Clyde Borg, was the 10th goal conceded by Qormi in the second half. 40 – Amadou Samb’s converted penalty for Gżira United in their 2-1 victory over Birkirkara was the 40th goal of the season at the National Stadium. This was also Gżira’s 230th goal in the top flight. 65 – Valletta’s 5-1 victory over Senglea Athletic was the 65th time the Whites have scored five goals in one match. 75 – Sliema Wanderers’ 3-1 victory agianst Tarxien Rainbows was their 75th with this scorline. The first one goes back to 1st December, 1912 .... againt Melita (Vittoriosa). 100 – Stefano Biancardi’s own goal was the 100th goal of this season. 250 – Balzan’s 1-0 victory over Pietà Hotspurs was their 250th match in the top flight. Their first ever apperance was the 5-1 defeat against Floriana on 24th August, 2003 ... with Stefan Zahra being their first ever scorer. Also, this was Balzan’s 110th victory and their winning goal, scored by Alfred Effiong, was their 170th goal at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. 290 – Hibernians’ 2-0 victory against St Andrew’s also marked their 290th clean sheet in the BOV Premier League 540 – Valletta’s win over Senglea Athletic (5-1) was their 540th in the Premier League.
