Malta’s eagerly-awaited home debut in the inaugural UEFA Nations League is fast approaching. On Monday, September 10, the national team, led by coach Ray Farrugia, take on Azerbaijan at the National Stadium, our first home outing in Group D3 of the UEFA Nations League. Tickets for this match are now available for sale. “I’m looking forward to this competition, especially after the positive training camp we had in Austria and the friendlies we played against Armenia and Georgia a few months ago,” Farrugia said when announcing the provisional squad for the upcoming games against Faroe Islands (away on September 7) and Azerbaijan. “We are eager to start the UEFA Nations League. The players are very keen as well. I believe that, with the right preparation as we had in Austria, we can aspire to achieve good results.” Farrugia’s tenure as Malta coach got off to a very positive start as Malta drew 1-1 in a friendly match against Armenia in Austria on May 29.
