Malta U-19 coach selects squad for Macedonia U-17 friendly

The Malta U-19 team will meet the Macedonia Under-17 side in a friendly match at the Centenary Stadium on Tuesday (kick-off 18.30). Winston Muscat, the Malta U-19 coach, has named a squad of 22 players for the game against Macedonia U-17s. Muscat’s selection features three foreign-based players, namely defender Daniel Curmi, who plays for Blau Weiss Gottschee Soccer Academy in the United States, Lee Ciantar, who turns out for Matlock Town in England, and striker Andrei Spiteri, of Spanish club Leganes. Tuesday’s warm-up is part of the Malta U-19 team’s build-up for the Euro U-19 Championship qualifying tournament, to be played in Malta this coming October. A difficult challenge awaits the Maltese U-19 team in a group containing France, Belgium and Lithuania. MALTA U-17SMeanwhile, the Malta U-17 team, under the guidance of coach Noel Turner, will play two friendlies against their Macedonian counterparts this week. The two games will take place at the MFA Training Grounds on Thursday and Saturday, both kicking off at 18.00. MALTA UNDER-19 SQUAD Goalkeepers: Amara Sylla (Birkirkara); Duncan Formosa (St Andrews). Defenders: Daniel Curmi (Blau Weiss Gottschee, US); Lee Ciantar (Matlock Town, England); Dejan Debono (St Andrews); Zak Grech (Balzan); Liam McKay (Pietà Hotspurs); Matthew Portelli, Andreas Vella (both Hibernians). Midfielders: Ayrton Attard, Glenn Attard, Paul Mbong (all Birkirkara); Jean Paul Attard (San Ġwann); Calvin Camilleri (Mosta); Shaun Dimech (Valletta); Adam Magri Overand, Jamie Sixsmith (both St Andrews); Bradley Sciberras (Floriana). Forwards: Clyde Bouvet (Pietà Hotspurs); Alexander Satariano (St Andrews); Andrei Spiteri (Leganes, Spain); Ryan Tonna (Valletta).
