Following their hard-earned title success at the end of last season, Maltese futsal champions Valletta will be looking to make their mark in Europe when they compete in the UEFA Futsal Cup.  The Preliminary Round draw, held on Thursday, placed Valletta in Group E with the mini-tournament due to be played in Macedonia between August 28 and September 2, 2018. Valletta will face Veles, the tournament hosts, Irish side Futsamba Naas and Cosmos Tallinn, of Estonia. The Citizens will no doubt be looking to emulate Luxol who qualified for the Main Round of the UEFA Futsal Cup last year. Valletta already know their potential opponents in the Main Round. Top spot in Group E would earn the Whites qualification to Group 8 of the Main Round of this season’s UEFA Futsal Cup with the teams in this section being Araz Naxçivan, of Azerbaijan, Lučenec, of Slovakia, and another group winner from the preliminary round. Araz Naxçivan faced a Maltese side last year as they were in the same group as Luxol in the Main Round tournament, played in Deva, Romania in October.
