Team MT, Women 35+ sweat it out for Puttinu Cares

Team MT and a selection of female players aged 35+ came together at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday evening to play an exhibition match in aid of Puttinu Cares.  A spirit of solidarity and friendship prevailed during this enjoyable friendly which marked the debut of Team MT, the national selection representing those working in the local showbiz industry. The creation of this team, which is co-ordinated by Malta FA FSR official Peter Busuttil with Matt Psaila contributing as team manager, is another initiative aimed at promoting and supporting good causes while also enhancing the image of the game. Football Social Responsibility (FSR) is an approach that strives to promote sustainable development in all aspects of football in cooperation with stakeholders. The aim is also to develop the game in a process which manages the economic, social and environmental impacts of our activities, so that future generations can continue playing football in the best possible conditions. For the record, Team MT, under the coaching guidance of Valletta FC midfielder Rowen Muscat, came from behind to win 2-1 with goals from Ben Camille and Gianni Zammit. The Team MT squad for Wednesday’s match was made up of Ronald Briffa, Gianni Zammit, Carlo Borg Bonaci, Arthur Caruana, Ben Camille, Jean Claude Micallef, Joseph Armani, Keith Demicoli, Kevin Calleja, Riccardo Flask, Ryan Spiteri, Sergio Mallia, Stephanie Chircop, JD Patrick, Chris Azzopardi, Frank Zammit, Simon B, Klinsmann Coleiro, Fabian Demicoli, Joven Tenishia, Carlos Farrugia, Nate Darmanin and Carl Bee. The Women 35+ Selection was led by Pierre Brincat, the Malta FA Women’s Technical Director, and team manager Dorita Agius. The squad was made up of Corrine Falzon, Claire Ciantar Piccinino, Antoinette Vella, Natasha Pace, Ingrid Vassallo, Antoinette Cini, Dionne Tonna, Lilian Cremona, Kathleen Saliba, Nina Dimech, Isabellle Mazitelli, Yanika Buhagiar, Marcia Zammit, Jackie Abdilla, Therese Briffa, Leona Tabone, Sharon Costantino.
