The close season may be a quiet period in terms of on-pitch footballing action but off the field, the Malta Football Association's work continues uninterrupted.  Over the past few months, the Malta FA, through its Business Development Department, has embarked on several projects aimed at renovating and embellishing its facilities at the National Stadium and the Centenary Stadium. NATIONAL TEAM'S DRESSING ROOM The dressing room of the senior national squad is being completely renovated. The first phase of this project comprised the removal of the old fixtures and fittings as well as alterations to facilitate access to the other facilities connected with the dressing room, located in the West Stand of the National Stadium. Works are expected to be completed in time for Malta’s first home commitment in the inaugural UEFA Nations League – against Azerbaijan on September 10, 2018. FOOTBALL MUSEUM Progress is also being made on another ambitious Malta FA project – the construction of a new football museum to complement the existing facilities on level 2 of the Millennium Stand, namely the Trophies Lounge and the Merchandise Outlet which were inaugurated last year. NATIONAL STADIUM Works are underway to replace the seats in the West Stand (Enclosure) as well as a total of 368 floodlighting bulbs at the National Stadium. Structural maintenance is being carried out on the West Stand Canopy, the Millennium Stand façade is being enhanced and new street lights are being installed in the National Stadium area. CENTENARY STADIUMFollowing the installation of a new FIFA Quality Pro pitch and new dug-outs last summer at an estimated cost of €400,000, further works are being carried out to upgrade two dressing rooms at the Centenary Stadium. The stadium’s doping room is also being renovated.
