The Mosta U19 team sealed a wonderful season yesterday evening at the Centenary Stadium by winning the Knock Out final, beating the Sliema Wanderers on penalties. Mosta also won the U19 Section A league a few weeks ago, a memorable season for the Blues indeed.
In the well-contested final, Jan Tanti opened the score for Mosta in the 24th minute, with Omar Elouni equalising for the Wanderers after 38 minutes.
The match needed to go into extra time but the teams did not manage to find the net.
The penalties were decisive with Mosta scoring four kicks against three for Sliema. Neil Frendo, Jan Tanti, Zachary Brincat and Moussa Souare scored from the spot for Mosta, Kurt Shaw, Omar Elouni and Miguel Mifsud scored for Sliema.
After the match, Malta FA Vice-President Dr Matthew Paris presented the medals to both teams and the winners' trophy to Mosta captain Zachary Brincat.
