Birkirkara and Hibernians will give life to an intriguing final day in this season’s BOV Women's League as they face each other on Wednesday night with the championship at stake.  The title showdown will be played at Mosta’s Charles Abela Stadium (kick-off: 8.15pm).  Separated by just one point, the Stripes, reigning champions, lead the way on 46 points followed by Hibs on 45.  The two historic rivals in women’s football have already met twice this season. The first encounter ended in a goalless stalemate while the Paolites emerged winners 1-0 in the second round. This win had enabled Hibs to overtake Birkirkara at the top of the championship only to slip back to second after being held by Mġarr United 0-0. The Stripes profited from this partial slip=up as they defeated Kirkop United 2-0. Now, at the third time of asking, a draw would suffice for the Stripes to win their seventh title but undoubtedly Hibernians will be going all out to take the three points and secure the championship. The two teams are involved in another interesting match-up as Birkirkara forward Raina Giusti and Hibs captain Dorianne Theuma are joint-top with 21 goals on the scorers' list.  Meanwhile, Birkirkara captain Stephania Farrugia on Monday was named MFPA Women's player of the year for the third time in a row. STANDINGSChampionship Pool- Birkirkara 46; Hibernians 45; Mġarr United 29; Raiders (Luxol) 28; Kirkop United 15; Tarxien Rainbows 8. Relegation Pool- Swieqi United 22; Fgura United 11; Mosta 4.  OTHER FIXTURESMġarr United vs Raiders (Luxol) – Mġarr Ground (8.15pm).Kirkop United vs Tarxien Rainbows – Żebbuġ Ground (8.15pm).
