Mosta youngsters savour youth league success

Mosta’s remarkable campaign in Section A of the Malta FA Youth League ended on a fittingly high note on Monday as the Blues beat Balzan 2-1 in their final match at the Charles Abela Stadium. Going into their last match with the title already in the bag after establishing an unassailable lead at the top, the Mosta youngsters took a 2-0 lead inside the opening 66 minutes. Emanuel Agyemang gave Mosta the lead 10 minutes from half-time and Zachary Brincat made it 2-0 on 66 minutes. Lucas Zerilli pulled one back for Balzan with 19 minutes left. Mosta finished with a total of 47 points after 15 wins, two draws and only one defeat. Birkirkara claimed second spot with 38 points. Neil Frendo was Mosta’s top league scorer with nine goals followed by Brincat on eight. Malta FA vice-president Ludovico Micallef presented the Section A winners’ trophy to the Mosta players.
