Malta will play friendly matches against Armenia, Georgia and Moldova during their training camp in Austria in the May-June period. The national team will kick off their busy schedule on May 29 with a friendly match against Armenia. On June 1, Malta face Georgia before concluding their friendly commitments with a match against Moldova on June 4. The friendly matches and the training camp in Austria are intended to optimise the national team’s preparations, under the guidance of coach Tom Saintfiet, for the inaugural edition of the UEFA Nations League. “The Malta Football Association is doing its utmost to ensure that the national squad prepare for the UEFA Nations League in the best way possible,” Dr Angelo Chetcuti, the Malta FA General Secretary, said. “The nine-day training camp and three friendly matches the national team will play in Austria are an important part of the build-up for the UEFA Nations League commitments.” Malta has been drawn in Group 3 of League D along with Azerbaijan, Faroe Islands and Kosovo with two matches being played during a five-day period over three consecutive months – September to November 2018. The first UEFA Nations League match for Malta is away to the Faroe Islands on September 7.
