From one side, a salvation would secure them another season alongside the elite teams of Malta, while a promotion for the other side would be their reward for the hard-work which they put on in the short time they have been involved in women's football. Kirkop United and Swieqi United will be battling out each other in the relegation/promotion play-off tonight.  Kirkop were involved in a thrilling relegation battle alongside Raiders (Luxol) and at one point in the league, they were progressing hand in hand as they had the same tally of points. However, the poor streak of results which Kirkop registered in the last matches of the domestic league whereas Raiders managed to snatch a point from Hibernians and won against Birkirkara, enabled the latter to salvage their status as a First Division team and condemn Kirkop to play this decider. Despite ending the season at 5th and having to face a strong opponent like Swieqi, Kirkop will be striving to achieve a positive result and maintain their place in the first tier.  On the other hand, Swieqi had a tough challenge in the second tier as Sliema Wanderers and Hamrun Spartans imposed a hard challenge for the Oranges. However, Swieqi proved to be superior in the direct encounters against both teams to clinch a play-off berth. They had the second best attack and defense, as they scored 56 goals while conceding 14 goals and without doubt, they will be a threat for Kirkop. Kevin Ellul (Kirkop United, Coach): ''We prepared well for tonight's match and recovered important players including goalkeeper Sharon Costantino, In a match like this, the best on the day will win, We are confident that the experience we gained in playing difficult matches in the First Division will help us to win this match.'' 2015/2016 classification: 5th in BOV Women's 1st Division with 14 points (3W-5D-12L). Max Bartolo and Jochen Lenders (Swieqi United, Coach): ''We are expecting a challenging game but we are well prepared. We have come a long way in less than two years and there is still a lot of progress to be made so we haven't set any expectations for ourselves. We take every game as it comes. We enjoy every game, fight hard for each other and give our 100%. We focus on playing intelligent football and working as a team. Tonight we will give our best from the first minute to the last and only the final whistle will tell us whether our best is good enough to play in the First Divisionnext year. We believe it is, and whatever the result, we know that we will be even better and stronger next year.'' ''Our girls, along with us and the rest of the club, are looking forward to play the play-off game, as it will be yet another milestone for this team and the club alike - no matter the outcome. Kirkop is a solid and fair team with First Division experience so we are eager to see whether we can put our foot next to them!''2015/2016 classification: 2nd in BOV Women's 2nd Division with 40 points (13W-1D-4L).
